Fertilization and Weed Control

Our comprehensive 6 step program is tailor made for the types of turf and weather conditions in the Lincoln, NE area.  It includes two applications of pre-emergent in spring to assure a good barrier against broadleaf weeds, crabgrass, and foxtail.  A top notch insecticide is used in the July-August applications to prevent any grub related problems.  The last two fertilizer applications are heavy in essential nutrients to promote root growth and storage through the winter months.  All of our applications are granular and are applied by licensed, trained personnel.  After each application, an information sheet will be left at your door explaining the application, and what you can do to promote the best results. A flag will be left in your yard to give notice of the application.

All of our fertilizers are slow release granules to provide you with optimum results. It is best to slowly spoon feed your lawn nutrients instead of dumping high doses of nitrogen every visit. This ensures a steady growth that is healthy for the grass and root system. Too much nitrogen will encourage rapid top growth. That might seem alright for the short term since your grass is green and growing but will cause problems down the road. The super fast growth will lead to increased thatch and that will lead to disease and other problems later. The end result is more money out of your pocket over the long term for disease treatments and power raking to correct this problem.

Your fertilizer program will cover the basic needs of your lawn but there are a few situations that require additional applications. This would include weed infestations and turf diseases. These are not common problems in the majority of our properties so we address these on an as needed basis. This keeps costs down for you since these are only recommended if your lawn would benefit from the service.

Full yard spraying is available for lawns heavily infested with broadleaf weeds for the cost of $15 p/1000 sq. ft.
